This is what I have done with my Friday and Saturday nights.
I spent seven hours picking superlatives and pictures, cropping, copying and pasting, and then laying out the (simple, but tedious) design for my hall’s little yearbook.
Then I spent two hours tonight dealing with the ever frustrating printer. I have two more hours at the desk and I am writing little notes to each resident in the back. I’ll be giving them out starting tomorrow during my Sunday desk shifts.
I’m really going to miss doing things like this. They have been such an amazing group.
Tonight I received the award Programmer of the Year for Palmetto Hall at the RA banquet.
Thank you to all the residents who came out and made my programs a success this year!
I’m going to really miss status updates like this.
I ran into Zach after I got done donating blood on campus, was hungry and he was headed to Chick-Fil-A. I have far too much dining dollars left on my university account, so I bought his food. I’ve been buying a lot of people’s food lately. It needs to be used up!
HAPPY EASTER!
On Friday afternoon I went to the store to get two balloons for residents’ birthdays. And then I saw it. 18 and 24 packs of plastic easter eggs for just $1. I ended up getting three packs of the tiny eggs (24 count each) for $3.21. I typed up compliments, nice quotes, and sweet sayings then printed them out on brightly colored paper and stuffed them into the eggs. A bunch are placed throughout my hall and in random parts of the building. I felt like an easter bunny during midnight rounds last night when I began distributing them. :)
April door decs are completed!
I went with a travel theme for this month. Each door dec has been made and taped to every resident’s door, and it looks just like a picture with their name on it. I asked each of them which country or state they would most like to visit and chose a picture based on that, so each resident should be able to figure out what their image is from. What is extra special is that if one flips the door dec over they will see it is a postcard! I printed them double sided, picked an old postcard style image off google, individually stamped each card, and then wrote “wish you were here!” (or another saying). Every card also has the resident’s first name, Palmetto and then their room number plus the school year. It took 3 hours for me to slowly google and put together each card on my computer and put on the stamps, then about another hour to cut and laminate them. I had to go out for my last door dec!
100% finished my April bulletin board last night! I’m really going to miss all the crafting that comes with this position.
The cotton balls to form the word “APRIL” was done out of laziness and wanting to avoid the Cricut late at night, but I am very pleased at the ingenuity.
I came home to this on my door last night!
Sarah put it on and fought to stay up so she could see my reaction, but she told me she passed out around 11 and I didn’t get back to my dorm until almost 1a. It is so sweet! I saw it, ran to get there quicker, squealed and jumped about. I really, really love balloons and my residents know this. I feel so loved. I’m going to miss this in a month.
I’ll post pictures from Denver in a day or two.
My resident Aby put this on my door while I was napping! When I saw it after returning from throwing out the trash I said “awwww” in a high pitch squeal voice.
It is so cute, THANK YOU ABY!
I am lovin’ RA appreciation week. :D
